Sumon Basak – ESR 4 @UNIPG

Sumon was born in Kolkata, India in 1997. He graduated with B.Sc. (honours) from the University of Calcutta & M.Sc. from Banaras Hindu University. He has worked with labs, based at BHU, IIT Bombay, IACS. In BHU & IIT Bombay, he primarily received training to synthesize & functionalize aromatic molecules. At IACS, he briefly explored software-based simulation of materials (C2N-h2D). His M.Sc. thesis work involved synthesis of organic dyes & their spectroscopic imaging. In September 2021, Sumon has joined the STiBNite cohort & has become a member of Prof. Vaccaro’s group. He is responsible for synthesizing BN modules, functionalizing them using C-H activation tools, & optimizing methods to apply in flow reactors. Apart from being an aspiring chemist, he is a science writer as well.
