ESR 1 Marco from University of Vienna has presented, both as flash poster presentation and physical poster, his latest scientific results during the 2nd DoSChem International Student Symposium. The annual symposium was held and organized by the PhD students of the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Vienna, Austria, on September 19th – 20th 2022.
ESR 8 Sena from TU München has presented her latest scientific results with a poster titled “Self-assembly and debromination of a functionalized borazine on Ag(111)” at the 2022 Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM). The event was held in Regensburg, Germany on September 4th – 9th 2022.
ESR 11 Carolina Ibarra from University of Groningen has presented the advances of her research in an oral talk titled: ”Towards two-dimensional BNC architectures from absorbed molecules” at the 35th edition of the European Conference of Surface Science (ECOSS35). The event was held at Luxembourg University, Luxembourg, on August 29th – September 2nd, 2022.
ECOSS is a traditional annual meeting directed jointly by the Surface Science Division of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA) and the Surface and Interface Section of the European Physical Society (EPS).
ESR 5 Sergi from Leiden University has presented the advances of his research in an oral talk titled ”Synthesis & Characterization of Boron Nitride-Doped Graphene on Cu(111)” at the 35th edition of the European Conference of Surface Science (ECOSS35). The event was held at Luxembourg University, Luxembourg, on August 29th – September 2nd, 2022.
ESR 1 Marco from University of Vienna has presented his latest scientific results with a poster titled “Peri-acenoacene ribbons with zig-zag BN-doped peripheries” during the 19th Blue Danube Symposium on Heterocyclic Chemistry. The biennial conference was held in Bratislava, Slovakia on August 22nd – 24th 2022.
ESR 1 Marco Franceschini and ESR 2 Martina Crosta participated in a “KinderUni” outreach activity, for kids aged between 7 and 12 years, organized at the University of Vienna by Bonifazi group on the 21st of July, 2022.
The topic was chemistry of colors, and the kinds performed different experiments (red cabbage pH indicator, thermochromic slime and ink chromatography). They also received a guide to repeat these experiments at home.

In this short video, ESR 12 Veronika Kost (UNITS) explains the basics of photoluminescence.
Veronika is working on the synthesis of luminescent Boron and Nitrogen doped Graphene Quantum Dots. Part of Veronika’s research consists in the study of their photoluminescent behaviour.
ESR 11 Carolina Ibarra from University of Groningen has presented her work with a poster titled “Towards two-dimensional BNC architectures from adsorbed molecules” during the biennial meeting organized by the Zernike Institute National Research Centre (Zernike Institute NRC). The Zernike Institute NRC represents the materials-related research activities of the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry and the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute. The event was held in Vlieland, The Netherlands on June 12th – 14th 2022.
ESR 14 Miquel García Lleó from GXT has presented his work with a poster titled “Industrial and Eco-friendly Development of 2D h-BN Coatings for Battery Thermal Management” during the annual Doctoral School of Chemistry (DoSChem) Panel A retreat. The event was held in Bad Waltersdorf, Styria, Austria, on May 31st – June 02nd 2022.
